How is alimony or spousal support determined?

Alimony is calculated by a complex formula,  taking into consideration the length of marriage, and the income of the parties.

Like child support, which can be calculated using the Massachusetts child support guidelines, it is helpful to predict what a Court may order for spousal support.

Parker Mediation and Collaborative Law helps parties make their own decisions when it comes to alimony.

In some cases the mediator may recommend a consultation with an accountant or tax advisor, as spousal support does have tax consequences.

By collecting financial information the parties are able to determine what each spouse needs and what resources are available to meet those needs.

Don’t worry, you won’t be left out in the rain, we are here to help.

The Massachusetts divorce mediators at Parker Mediation and Collaborative Law provide professional mediation services to individuals and families throughout Massachusetts with offices serving Worcester County, Central Massachusetts, and Boston metro-west.
